A buyer real estate agent is a licensed real estate professional who represents and works on behalf of the buyer in a real estate transaction. The buyer agent’s primary role is to help the buyer find and purchase a property that meets their needs and fits within their budget.
A buyer agent has a fiduciary duty to act in the best interests of their client and to provide them with professional guidance throughout the home buying process. This includes helping the buyer with property searches, scheduling and attending property viewings, negotiating offers, and facilitating the transaction through to closing.
Buyer agents are typically compensated by the seller of the property, through a commission split with the listing agent. As a result, using a buyer agent’s services typically comes at no cost to the buyer.
