Excellent, ground floor opportunity to join a small, established real estate brokerage that is perfectly situated to take advantage of the growing demand for online/reduced fee Realtors.

We are looking for an office manager / Realtor associate to join our team!  Someone who will assist us with every facet of running our business.  This position is a combination office manager – transaction coordinator – field agent – Realtor – business strategist – assistant.

Our wish list:

Tech savvy (computer, email and text from mobile phone)

Excellent communication skills, personable, detail oriented

Experience handling residential real estate transactions

Familiarity with Zip Forms, using the MLS, Docusign

About the broker:

My name is Hugh Borax, I grew up in LA and graduated from UCLA in 1991.  After a few years working in the film business, I started One Percent Broker (OPB) in 1998 to represent clients interested in taking an active role in their home search or sale in order to save thousands on their transaction.

My mission has always been to represent a client’s interests above all else (which has sometimes meant recommending a buyer not purchase a bad property). Ultimately, I believed our business would prosper in the long term if clients knew their needs were addressed with great care and expertise.  So far so good.

The prevalence of Redfin and other “reduced fee” brokerages has caused buyers and sellers to seek alternatives to traditional, full commission Realtors.  We have refined the OPB business model to be as effective and efficient as possible and are looking for someone to work both behind the scenes and also directly with clients to continue to grow this business.

We have a small, bright office located in Santa Monica, two blocks from the beach.  We believe in working to live (not living to work), but are ambitious and striving to take this business to the next level and beyond.  We are looking to add a team member who feels likewise.

About you:

You are a hard working, creative person who is willing to use initiative and bring your best self to your work.  We are seeking a dedicated, personable, organized and responsible person who will be invested in the success of OPB and will communicate with clients in a responsive and engaging manner.  As we work together over time, you will gradually become one of the faces of OPB and we look forward to having confidence in you in that capacity.

Full and part-time positions will be considered.


The starting salary is $20 – $30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.  As you continue, a bonus structure will be implemented.

Additionally, you would be able to bring in clients and work on your own deals, with a 70 – 30% commission split.  The office manager responsibilities, however, would need to be primary.
